Does a 20-year-old car be in the running for this series? In the case of the Merkur XR4Ti, I think it does- these things were cute rare to start in on with, and stint has not been kind to the few that Ford did boss to sell. Sure, it was actually an Americanized Ford Sierra- common as torture in Europe at the beat- but there were Dearborn dreams of the thing outward exotic ample to blow sales from the Germans and Japanese on these shores. This example, mottled in Alameda's East End, is in excellent shape- could it be star has scrupulously restored a Merkur? Still, the XR4Ti had certain cool stuff you didn't copious see coming from Detroit at the hour. A turbocharged SOHC engine, for example, and something we still don't see on the Mustang 20 years next: an independent rear holdup. See, everybody, this is an import! Ford Werke AG had nonentity to do with those uninteresting ol' Tempos you see clogging your local highways, if truth be told! And the dual spoilers! Isn't this rig the 80s-est thing you've ever seen? We all need to apply a little Hair Product ASAP! Also incredibly 80s is the discs bra protecting that quality German bodywork.
